Today we’re going to tell you how to fully utilize the AMD Ryzen 3000 chipset. This demonstration will explain the overclocking steps of the Ryzen 9 3900X processor.
It is a powerful product equipped with 12 cores and 24 threads. It
operates at a base frequency of 3.8 GHz. The maximum boost frequency is 4.6 GHz. MSI's latest X570 motherboard allows you to easily fine-tune the processor and thoroughly use Ryzen. CPU gamers, YouTubers and
especially content creators are very much looking forward to the performance brought by AMD Ryzen 3000 series, which can increase
productivity, multi-task and reduce calculation time. With proper hardware settings, it is not difficult to increase a few hundred MHz. To enjoy the more performance brought by the new CPU, let's set it up together. Before we start, we want to remind you that
although most motherboards and CPUs have power protection and overheating and frequency reduction mechanisms to shut down before damage occurs, we need to let the CPU Operation beyond normal settings should be carried out according to our steps. It should be safe but the risk is still necessary. Overclocking must be adjusted. The CPU voltage is also called core voltage.
Although we safely adjust it, if the core voltage is too high, it
may still cause the new CPU to burn out and the motherboard may burn out.

For energy consumption, overclocking requires an excellent power supply,
which should have a stable 12 volt current. 2 ATX 8-pin connectors. We recommend a PSU of at least 700 to 800 watts. As for the RAM,
we use 32 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 to operate at 3000MHz. For the display part,
we use MSI Optix MAG 271-CQR. We also use NVMe M.2 hard disk to enjoy super fast Windows boot time and super fast loading of the latest games. There are also many temporary storage disks for video editing operations.
Let's start from the benchmark test and
compare the overclocking results. Cinebench R15 gave a good 3100 points and Cinebench R20 got 7,021 points. Blender's BMW test finished in 2:40. Ok,
press the power button and then press the Delete button to enter the BIOS. Here you can see that the basic clock and DDR frequency are 3.8GHz and 2133MHz respectively. First,
we can fine-tune Precision Boost Overdrive. Press F7 to enter the "Advanced Mode" Advanced mode) and then go to “Overclocking Settings”. The next point is “Advanced CPU configuration” and press Enter to go to “Precision Boost Overdrive”. This setting is mainly for single core Acceleration "Auto" is the value of AMD, we can set it to "Enhanced mode 1", "2" Or "3" In the test, we found that the performance of "Enhanced Mode 2" (Advanced Mode 2) is best to use CPU-Z to check the frequency and Core Temp to check the Cinebench R15 results of "Enhanced Mode 2" (Advanced Mode 2) Compared with the original 3100 points, the next test is Cinebench R20.

This mode is 7,119 points higher than the original setting of 98 points, which improves the BMW test of Blender. It takes 0.5 seconds to 2 minutes and 41 seconds. 41 It is within the statistical difference. This is a very simple improvement,
but let's try to use this chip's performance. The goal is to achieve at least 4.2GHz for the CPU. We will first overclock the CPU individually and finally enable A-XMP for RAM . The overclocking space of each processor is slightly different. Generally speaking,
Ryzen9 3900X All cores can reach 4.2 to 4.3GHz. If you use a very good chip,
you can reach 4.4GHz. To overclock the processor , please consider the "triangular relationship" of workload, current and temperature. These factors will affect each other. High or low will affect the other two.

For example,
lowering the CPU voltage will lower the temperature but may have a negative impact on performance testing. After finding the maximum stable overclocking, in order to ensure long-term use
, please lower the setting slightly and return to "OC Settings".
Go to "CPU ratio” (CPU multiplier) and input “42”. At present, keep the default “Core Voltage” and then press F10 and “Yes” to confirm
and restart. Then start Cinebench R15. The result is better than the original factory. Setting a high of 131 points to 3,231 points , how much does Cinebench R20 improve? Almost 400 points to 7420 CB points and finally
the Blender BMW test result was faster than 7 seconds
to 2 minutes 33 seconds 43.

You can use Cinebench R20 to perform stability test for about 10 minutes, which is very close to the overheating limit of AMD CPU, even if the temperature The sensor reading is lower than the upper limit of 115 degrees Celsius, but because the measurement point is not at the highest temperature of the core, the sensor may crash
or the system will shut down when the sensor is about 95 degrees. If this happens or overclocking, you will see detection The wrong LED displays 0-0. You must turn off the PSU and wait for all the motherboard lights to go out and then press the "Clear CMOS" button for 5 to 10 seconds, then release this button on the ACE. If there is no such button , please jump it carefully. The two pins of the JBAT connector for 5 to 10 seconds or
turn on the power supply. After a while, the power button will turn on your computer.

We are not over yet! Let's talk about adjusting F-CLOCK AMD calls it Infinity Fabric. It is the communication link between Ryzen CPU dies and helps to improve overall performance. This value is related to the performance of your RAM. It will run at half the memory speed. If the memory speed is not Up to 3600MHz, you can set the maximum value to 1800MHz, which is the upper limit. However, if there is a DDR4-4000 kit or higher hardware F-CLOCK, the upper limit will still be 1800MHz. Take Dominator Platinum DDR4 as an example. Settings) Change the "A-XMP" setting to "Profile 1" (Profile 1), increase the RAM to 3000MHz and then adjust the FCLK to 1667MHz, it will return to the desktop, but due to overheating and crashing, choose a more stable 1600MHz and return to the "CPU Ratio" ”(CPU multiplier) Use the plus and minus keys to adjust to 4.25MHz, then press F10 and click “Yes” to save the setting and see the result.

The final setting is CPU 4.25GHz DDR4 3000MHz Infinity Fabric, also known as F-CLOCK Adjusted to 1600MHz, Cinebench R15 scored 3303 points higher than the original factory setting. The Cinebench R20 results are also impressive, reaching
7,518 points. Compared with the original factory setting of 7,021 points, it is almost an increase of 500 points. Finally
, the BMW test of Blender is fast. From 10 seconds to 2 minutes 30 seconds 48, the difference is not small compared to the original factory of 2 minutes 40 seconds 90. Lower voltage can reduce the temperature, but too much voltage reduction will also reduce performance. Please remember that the
adjustment range should be very small, even if the increase of 0.2 volts will affect the temperature increase too much If you want to adjust this setting,
it is recommended to use about 1.37 volts. Finally, for other methods, you can use “Game Boost” (Game Boost). Acceleration) Set the built-in turntable to “4 」 Then turn on X570 Ace and use this CPU to set
Cinebench R15 to get 3250 points. Slight adjustment of this dial is a significant improvement. Before updating the X570 ACE BIOS from 120 to 130, we did adjust Ryzen 3900x to 4.4GHz. may get better results. Finally, some heat dissipation. Tips: If the temperature is higher than 90 degrees, you should lower the “Core Voltage” and/or
“Core frequency”. H150i uses Corsair Link to monitor the fan speed. You can select the fan “Profile” and “Performance”. “(Performance) This will operate the fan at the extreme setting.

It is very useful in stress tests that allow the temperature to drop as quickly as possible.
