How to Buy Polkadot (DOT) in 2 minutes (2021 Updated)

Hi, I’m Nate Martin, and we’re going to go over
how to buy Polkadot in today’s 2…minute…tutorial. DOT is the native token\ of the Polkadot network. Polkadot is a highly-scalable \and customizable network, aiming to be the mother of all blockchains by supporting interoperability\ between different blockchains. Depending on the amount of DOT
you’re planning to buy, you can choose to store it \on either a hardware wallet or a software wallet.

If you’re buying a small amount of DOT, then a free software wallet that can be downloaded to your mobile phone
or computer will do. Exodus is a wallet that supports
over 120 coins, including DOT. The app also provides an exchange service,
and it’s available on both iOS and Android. If, on the other hand, you’re planning on accumulating
larger amounts of DOT, it’s safer to store it on a dedicated device
known as a hardware wallet. Our recommendation for a hardware wallet
that can store DOT would be the Ledger Nano X. The Nano X is a reputable wallet which can store over 1000 cryptocurrencies
alongside DOT, and it can also connect to your mobile phone,
which is a great advantage. Once you’ve set up your wallet,
make sure to find your DOT address, which will be used whenever you want to
send DOT to your wallet.

Each DOT address is a string
of 48 numbers and letters, which starts with the number 1. Finally it’s time to find a place to buy DOT. Two great options for buying your DOT
would be Binance or CEX. Both exchanges support
many countries worldwide, have a good reputation, and support an instant-buying option
which is beginner friendly – just look for the “buy crypto” tab
on their navigation bar. However, if you’re an advanced trader, the trading platform
might be more suitable for you, as it will save you some fees. While some exchanges will store coins
for you on their site, you’ll want to make sure to withdraw them
to your own wallet by sending them to the DOT address
we talked about before. This way you keep full control of your coins. That’s today’s 2 minute tutorial, for a complete list of recommended wallets
and exchanges and a more in-depth step by step guide
